Why are you undertaking the research?

Supply chain management refers to the flow of organizational services and goods among the business entities within a small or large scale competitive market. In the words of Zhang et al. (2013), the processes of supply chain management used include the movement and storage of the raw materials followed by work processing inventory and final service or goods for consumption purposes. In most cases, the process of supply chain management emphasizes facilitating the customer needs to be met at minimum costs. As per the most common instances are concerned, the supply chain management systems of the organizations use to focus on the satisfaction of their customers by acknowledging complex and time-consuming tasks. For this purpose, this study has emphasized enhancing effective knowledge regarded with the certain useful systems aligned with the development of resource planning systems within the supply chain management that include MRP or Manufacturing Resource Planning, MRP2, and ERP or Enterprise Resource Planning Lambert et al. (2017). In addition to it, this study is also supposed to shed light on the manufacturing process under the supply chain management system with the prior considerations of SAP and Industry 4.0 respectively.

The rationale of the study

The system of resource planning is mostly aligned with the practical planning of an organization that is mostly developed on the prior foundation of the available resources. In most cases, this process is prioritized for the purpose of ensuring organizational success from the ends of the management. As stated by Kilic et al. (2015), resources development planning of an organization is usually associated with the human resource department practices including their efforts in ensuring finding, hiring, and training. For the reason of facilitating the resources for the utilization purpose, this system has become extensively mandatory for the organizations of this era, as with the help of it they become competent in ensuring their product service provision according to the consumer trends or needs. In this regard, most organizations around the world have been found to witness massive success with the help of MRP, MRP2, and ERP systems. Thus, it is evident that organizations nowadays require emphasizing the implementation of these systems effectively in order to facilitate their change requirements and ensure effective consumer-oriented service or product provision for long-term business sustainability within the competitive markets (Kapp et al. 2016). In addition to it, the organizations are also required to emphasize acknowledging the most effective manufacturing process that enhances the resource planning development system.

Significance of the study

In this regard, it is necessary to measure the benefits and disadvantages of the resource development planning system components as well, which is required to provide help the organizations in selecting the most competent factors related to the system. The major significance of this study is that it is supposed to recommend the most effective supply chain planning with the prior categorization of the organizational subjective orientations. For the purpose of shedding lines on this issue, this study has considered the article of Shao et al. (2012), which extensively worked on the advantages and disadvantages of the resource planning system. In this regard, this article also has shed light on the evolution of the resource planning systems from the perspectives of the organizations along with their implementation methods associated with it. Shedding light on the evolution with the prior consideration of the co-optimization process for MRP, MRP2, and ERP has allowed this article to help the present study efficiently. However, Kavanagh and Johnson (2017) have argued this article by promoting the need for human resource activities in resource planning. Thus, this article has been found effective for the current study to develop categorical knowledge about the inclination of human resource information systems to be aligned with the most contemporary resource planning system.

Focusing on the most contemporary resource planning system is always required, as they are liable to reflect the most efficient outcomes for the organizations considering the current competitive market needs. For this purpose, this study has acknowledged the article of Tarhini et al. (2015) that has indicated the critical success factors associated with the resource planning systems. This article also has helped the present study in developing analytical concerns about the critical success factors aligned with the currently used resource planning systems, such as MRP, MRP2, and ERP. In addition to it, this article also has recognized the perspectives of the stakeholders in terms of their concern about the systematic implementation of resource planning systems. Developing prior notes about the systematic concerns related to the implementation resource planning system has allowed this study to enhance its understanding of the possible outcomes from these factors. On the contrary note, Leigh and Blakely (2016) have acknowledged the need for local and economic development plans in terms of utilizing the resource development planning system. It allowed this study to widen the vision about the greater spectrum of the resource planning system within diverse markets.

Future of resource planning system

Considering the future of the resource planning system and elaborating perspectives related to it are liable to extend the vision of this system for long-term impacts, However, the resource planning system is always required to be aligned with the marketing processes of the organizations in order to ensure the long-term impacts and anticipated success of it. Thus, the present study is required to shed light on the currently used resource planning systems with the prior considerations of their possible moves in future competitive markets.
