Guidelines for Peer Review of Annotated Bibliography

Once you have posted your rough draft, read and comment on 3 rough drafts posted in the discussion forum

Forum

Be sure to answer the peer feedback questions for the assignment clearly (not just a bulleted list). Post your reply as a response to the draft (hit the reply button to create a thread).

Remember that honest, constructive criticism helps the writer improve his or her paper to receive a better final grade. “This stinks” is not constructive criticism; be specific about what did not work well in the paper. (Equally unhelpful is a comment like “Nice job.”) Be honest, but be kind. Points will be deducted for incomplete, off-topic, and/or vague responses.

Peer Feedback Questions for the Annotated Bibliography

Answer all of the following questions in response to 3 peer drafts:

  1. Does the scope statement make clear what issue is being explored? Does it provide the necessary context and background information?
  2. Are there at least 5 sources that are alphabetized by the authors’ last names?
  3. Are all citations in correct MLA format, including all relevant publication information in the correct order?
  4. Does each annotation contain a concise description of each source and a summary of its contents?
  5. Does each annotation also contain an evaluation that explains why the source is useful and how it will be used in the argument essay?
  6. Are at least 2 sources from library databases?*
  7. Is the annotated bibliography well-written, using correct grammar, spelling, mechanics, etc?
